About Dogfood
"To say that an association is 'eating its own dog food'
means that the association uses the products that it produces."
from "Eat one's own dog food" - Wikipedia Definition
"For hardware and software developers, dog-food is jargon for trying
out a product on yourself before giving it to others or in order to develop
a customer view of the product, as in 'Let's eat our own dog-food.'
"
from Dog-food - a Whatis? Technical Definition
My name is Steve Hollis, founder and owner of Dogfood Media. To me, in a nutshell, the term dogfood means to practice what you preach. That's why I named my business after it. The ideas I talk about in my articles and the methods I use on customer's websites are those that I have learnt through applying them to my own projects. By:
- working for countless weeks and months finding out what makes an effective website and what makes a duff one;
- spending my own hard earned cash on Google Adwords campaigns and learning from my mistakes;
- finding the search engine listings that make a difference and learning how to get them fast...
I've been able to ensure that small business websites are the useful tools they can and should be. My interest is in seeing small businesses benefit from the increasing integration of the world wide web into our modern lives.
I sincerely hope that my next project is working with your small business.
Best Regards,
Steve Hollis
